Research Activities Research Guide for Ph.D: Recognition from University of Mumbai as a Research Guide for Ph.D. in Economics since July 2002 and two students have registered and are working under my supervision.

Research Projects Completed :
  1. I worked as a Co-Director of a project entitled " Pricing Higher Education : A Case-study of Maharashtra" financed by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and executed at V.G.Vaze College of Arts,Science and Commerce,Mulund,Mumbai 400 081. The duration of this project was March 1990 to November 1990.I have co-authored the project report submitted to ICSSR.
  2. I worked as Principal Investigator of a Major Research Project entitled " Estimation of the Returns to Recurrent Education" financed by UGC and executed at K.E.T's V.G.Vaze College of Arts,Science and Commerce, Mulund, Mumbai 400 081. The duration of this project was 1st July 2001 to 30th June 2003.
  3. Received a research grant from Mumbai University in August 2003 for conducting a research project entitled "Competitiveness of Small Scale Enterprise Clusters: A Study of Auto-Components Producing Units in Pune". The final report is submitted to Mumbai University in August 2004.
  4. I worked as Principal Investigator of a Major Research Project entitled "Competitiveness of Small-Scale Enterprises Clusters in India".Received a research grant of Rs.3,91,900 from UGC for conducting this project from 1-1- 2005 to 31-12-2006. The final report is submitted to UGC on 9th February 2007.
Other Contributions Has been working with NGOs for creating awareness among the people regarding clean environment and clean energy.

    Research Projects Done :
      Worked as Principal Investigator of a Major Research Project entitled "Competitiveness of Small Scale Enterprize Clusters In India" financed by UGC and executed at K.E.T's Vinayak Ganesh Vaze College of Arts,Science and Commerce, Mulund, Mumbai 400 081. The duration of this project was 1st January 2005 to 31st December 2006.The amount of grant received was Rs.3,90,900 (Three lakhs ninety thousand nine hundred only).
    1. Presently working as Principal Investigator of a Major Research Project entitled " Urban Local Governance and Environmental Management : A Case Study of Pune Municipal Corporation" financed by UGC and being executed at K.E.T's Vinayak Ganesh Vaze College of Arts,Science and Commerce, Mulund, Mumbai 400 081. The duration of this project is 1st February 2010 to 31st January 2011.The amount of grant received was Rs.4,20,200 (Four lakhs twenty thousand two hundred only).

    Consultancy :
    1. Invited to Guide and provide consultancy to the Degree college teachers on Preparing the Research Proposals for seeking the funds from the Funding Agencies such as UGC, University of Mumbai,ICSSR etc.for conducting Major /Minor Research Projects
      Guidance provided as a result of Invitation received from :
      1. Principal of G. N. Khalsa College of Arts,Sci.and Com. Matunga East, Mumbai 19 .
      2. Principal of R.A. Podar College of Com,Matunga ,Mumbai 19,and
      3. Principal of Joshi-Bedekar College of Arts and Com,Thane (West )
    2. Guided a survey of industries in Wagle Industrial Estate in Thane on behalf of the Thane Manufacturer's Association (TMC) in April 2007 and submitted report to TMC
      The survey addressed four main issues
      1. To identify the status of units i.e. whether they are operational or closed
      2. To understand the main problems faced by the units.
      3. To find out the reasons of closure of units.
      4. To recommend remedial / policy measures to improve the scenario.

      The survey began on 2nd April, 2007 and concluded on 17th April, 2007. It covered all the 715 units listed in the "Survey of Industries in MIDC Thane". The persons-in-charge of the units were interviewed, on the basis of a small questionnaire, by the student investigators. Out of 715 plots, some units have owned two or three plots, further some plots have bank offices,MIDC office ,MIDC colony, post office, MSEB office,Telephone Exchange office,Industrial Training Institute,ESIC Hospital etc. Thus, manufacturing units we visited were 482 , out of which 94 were closed and 388 were operational. Further, out of 94 closed units, only 25 units had some supervisor present on their premises and hence we could get some information from them.

    Recognition from University of Mumbai as a Research Guide for Ph.D. in Economics since July 2002 and under my supervision, two students have received their Ph.D. degrees from University of Mumbai in April 2008. Their details are :

    Two students are working for their Ph.D. under my supervision at present Research Guide for M.Phil in Economics: Recognition from Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University as a Research Guide for M.Phil. in Economics since July 2008 and under my supervision, two students have received their Ph.D. degrees from University of Mumbai in April 2010.     Research Guide for M.Phil in Economics: Madhurai Kamaraj University as a Research Guide for M.Phil. in Economics in December 2007. One student received M.Phil in Economics.
