NSS

The N.S.S. unit has been a part of our college for last 13years. The academic year of 2007-08 began with many new activities being introduced. They worked for following activities:-

• LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP PROGRAMME (1st Aug. – 5th Aug, 07):

Leadership training camp program was held at Mulshigaon near Badlapur. The camp was organized by Thane district coordinator Mr. B.S. Bidure for 5 days.

• PEACE RALLY (6TH Aug, 07):

A peace rally was held at Azad Maidan near C.S.T. Nearly 20 volunteers attended the camp. The camp rally was based on Hiroshima and Nagasaki bomb blast (1945).

• UNIVERSITY LEVEL PROGRAMME (9th Aug, 07):

10 volunteers attended the university level programme at 'Kranti Maidan'. On the same day, 20 volunteers attended the cultural programme at 'Ravindra Natya Mandir' (Prabhadevi). The program was based on revolutionist. The chief guest was our (C.M) Mr. Vilas Rao Deshmukh.

• INDEPENDENCE DAY (15th Aug, 07):

Independence-day was celebrated by hoisting a flag in our college. Around 65 to 70 volunteers attended this function.

• FLAG COLLECTION (16th Aug, 07):

N.S.S. volunteers went all over the streets of Mulund (E) as well as Mulund (W) and collected the flags which were thrown on the road. Around 30 students participated in this activity.

• SUNDAY CAMP (19th Aug, 07):

1st Sunday camp was organized at Ovala, where around 35 to 40 students participated. Tree plantation was done in Ovalkar Wadi.

• SADBHAVANA DIWAS (20th – 21st Aug, 07):

Sadbhavana Diwas is celebrated as the Birth Anniversary of our late Prime Minister of India (Shri Rajiv Gandhi). Singing, Essay Writing, Slogan Writing, Rangoli and Poster Competitions were conducted on this day.

• SKIT COMPETITION (22nd Aug, 07):

Skit competition was organized. N.S.S Volunteers prepared skits based on the topics like National Integration, Health and Hygiene, Peace, Drug addiction and AIDS. Five groups performed a skit on each topic. A group consisted of 7 to 8 students. These skits were performed in front of the college ground.

• RALLY (23rd Aug, 07):

A Rally was organized at Bhandup by NPM (NGO). Rekha Chavad was the programme officer of this NGO. Our volunteers presented a street play on AIDS. Later our volunteers attended a seminar in Geeta Hall near Bhandup regarding HIV and AIDS.

• SUNDAY CAMP (26th Aug, 07):

A Sunday camp was organized in Thane at Ovala. Around 33 volunteers participated actively in the camp. Mr. Rajendra Ovale gave an informative lecture to the volunteers on fertilizers.

• PRATHAM (CHILD LABOUR) PROJECT (27th Aug, 07):

In the morning at 11:15 AM N.S.S. volunteers made a visit to the Mhada Slum, Mulund (E) to conduct a survey of the slum dwellers. Students were guided by Mr. Vinod Kale and Mrs. Manisha Kamble. A group of four students along with Mr. Vinod Kale visited some houses.

• LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAMME (10th – 14th Sept, 07):

Leadership training programme at K. J. Somaiya college of Science and Commerce, Vidyavihar Mumbai 400 077 was conducted. Ten students attended this programme. Dr. Ruchi Chiplunkar, Pednekar Sir and Phondekar Sir conducted lectures.

• THREE DAYS CAMP (23rd –25th Sept, 07):

A three days camp was organized by Swami Vivekanand Kendra, Thane in the college.

• SPECIAL TEN DAYS CAMP (27th Sept - 5th Oct, 07):

A ten days camp was conducted for N.S.S. volunteer's personality development in Shantivan. Forty volunteers attended this camp. During the camp students visited the Orphan and old age home at Shantivan.

• PULSE POLIO PROJECT (5th Jan, 08):

Training was conducted regarding pulse polio project. 15 volunteers attended this training from 11:30 AM to 12.30 PM.

• PULSE POLIO CAMP (6th Jan, 08):

Three students attended the Pulse Polio camp along with other college students.
