ONE DAY WORKSHOP FOR IMPLEMENTING THE CREDIT BASED COURSE MODULES FOR SYBA HISTORY PAPERS II & III
The History Department of V.G.Vaze College conducted a one-day workshop on the re-structured syllabus of the Second Year B.A on June 19 2012. The workshop had two technical sessions that led to fruitful discussions on the two papers to be taught to students of the second year; Landmarks In World History and the History of Ancient India. The idea behind conducting the workshop was to lead a discussion for the subject teachers to plan their teaching, tests and assignments as per the demands of the credit system. Resource persons for the workshop included, Dr. Sonali Pednekar and Dr. Preeta Nilesh from Vaze College and Dr. Jyoti Marwah, ICL, Vashi and Ms. Vidya Prabhu from Dnyanasadhana College, Thane. "The idea is to maintain some amount of uniformity across colleges while teaching both papers and this was the first thing we had in mind when we planned the workshop" says Dr. Pednekar, Head, Dept. of History, Vaze College. The workshop saw participation from neighboring colleges as well as from colleges in the western suburbs and south Mumbai. "While we have always been getting students to make presentations, the Credit system has formalized the same and it has been an interesting journey brainstorming and thinking out of the box to plan assignment topics and methods of best communicating the teaching modules to students" says Dr. Preeta Nilesh, Convener of the workshop.
